[Character name] Victor Niguel

[Point in time taken from canon] Post-Game (Under The Knife 2)

[Background]
Victor was born in 1992. Not much is known about his background prior to his work with Caduceus aside from the obvious; he attended a university, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree and took both the national and the California state exams for becoming a medical technologist. A verified genius, he likely found work at Caduceus not too long after graduating and obtaining his licenses.

Working at Caduceus, he became the head of their Research and Development division rather quickly for his age (he already holds the position in game by age 26) and is also known as "the brain of Caduceus". In addition medical research and publishing numerous articles on his studies and research, he also developed a lot of Caduceus's cutting edge medical technology. Never one to socialize, he always concentrated on his work and was even described as a recluse who needs to get out of the lab more often by the director of Caduceus himself.

By 2018 when the first game takes place, cures have been found for AIDS, cancer, TFTA influenza, etc. Caduceus (and therefore Victor) was most likely responsible for this.

Victor played a vital role in the GUILT (Gangliated Utrophin Immuno Latency Toxin) outbreak. He developed serums, attack strategies and even improved surgical tools to combat the parasites. When confronted with a challenging strain with a contingency plan, he worked day and night to come up with a solution. It was found, but all the exploratory surgery before the parasite's final eradication took its toll on the patient and he died. Victor blamed himself for the failure and locked himself up in the lab. Never one to give up, he kept working all throughout the duration of the first outbreak and helped put an end to the threat of GUILT.

When GUILT returned in the form of PGS (Post-Guilt Syndrome), Victor was back on the case to help put an end to it. In addition to the usual, he got to show off another talent of his: DNA treatment. He developed a cure custom-tailored for one particular individual. Once again, he saved the day in the end by developing a serum to effectively combat the parasites.

[Personality]

Victor knows he's a genius and isn't afraid to let everyone around him know it. He often boasts his intelligence and capabilities, even going as far as putting down those he considers "idiots". Victor often resorts to name-calling and runs his mouth like a true LA resident. Not even colleagues are safe from his verbal onslaughts; Victor repeatedly mocks Derek as well.

Past his gruff exterior, Victor actually cares a lot about people. He's dedicated to his job and its mission statement: to cure the incurable. He's not a people person nor does he really observe manners, but he's got his own way of showing he cares. When he meets a patient personally, he's brutally honest about their situation and chances of surviving. When a patient makes a good impression on him, Victor develops a bond with that patient and works with even more enthusiasm to save them. Despite the verbal abuse, he also trusts and respects his colleagues.

He loves his job and sometimes even spends too much time in the lab, working late hours because he just doesn't want to stop. The idea of new and exciting medical advancements is thrilling to him. Even when criticizing someone for wrongfully exploiting a dangerous disease for developing performance enhancing drugs, he commented on how impressive the research itself was.

When things don't go as planned, he blames himself for messing up and calls himself stupid. It doesn't take him too long to get back on his feet, and soon enough he'll be back to his usual self with even more determination than before.

[Abilities]

Victor's skills include:
  • medical research
  • clinical research
  • DNA treatment
  • development of new technology
  • operation assistance
  • developing medicine
  • sarcasm
  • insults

Aside from his impressive talents, Victor is just a regular human being. He's got no superpowers, nor is he physically strong.

[Other important stuff]

Smart as he might be, Victor's brain looks for the simplest solution to any problem right away. This prevents him from being able to solve even simple puzzles. He masks this flaw by asking others to solve necessary puzzles for him.

If you fail the operation, he will notify the medical board.

[Sample post]
[First Person]

Listen up, somnipathists. As you've no doubt figured out by now, that disease spreading since the night of the new moon is very contagious. On behalf of Caduceus Somni, I'd like to remind you all to stay the hell away from anyone who's been infected. Symptoms include a foul bodily odor, secretions from the mouth, thick cataracts in the eyes, and seemingly uncontrollable moaning. If you're stupid enough to mistake one of 'em for someone uninfected, you probably deserve the impending bite.

[There's a muffled utterance of complaint heard in the background. He has clearly deviated from the script provided by his superiors. Victor groans.] Yeah, yeah, all right.

The good news is that a cure is on its way. Until then, just find a safe haven and sit tight. We'll let you know when the situation changes.

[Third Person]

It didn't take Victor very long to get used to the way things worked in Somarium. He was initially interested in the mechanics of having a part of one's consciousness be transported into another realm entirely, but researching that was soon left up to scientists who specialized in such things. Being extremely talented when it came to one very particular category of research, Dr. Niguel quickly found himself immersed in the study of Somarium's various diseases and how they functioned. A quick rundown of the dream world's history wasn't enough; when explanations were too sparse, he would bury himself in case histories at the various record vaults of Somni's hospitals. There was plenty to learn if he was going to uphold his title of genius here in this new setting.

In no time at all, he'd managed to work his way up the ranks of Caduceus Somni until he was head researcher. He found it pathetic that as a newcomer, he knew far more about Somarium's history of infectious diseases than its natives did. Idiots, he muttered under his breath when he'd pass someone who couldn't identify the tell-tale features of someone infected by the lunar cycle in August of Somarium's year 2011. It was so damn simple!

Those were the easy things to get used to. What he found more difficult was accepting the fact that several of his new coworkers claimed to have recognized him. "I remember you," an elderly nurse said one day. "You were always so serious about everything, just like you are now." Further investigation revealed that someone by the name of Victor Niguel seemingly identical to him in every way really did work there several years ago. A common occurrence in Somarium, apparently, but it still bothered him that he couldn't remember any of it. Perhaps the memories still existed in his brain, he wondered, locked away somehow. If so, there had to be a cure.

If anyone could find said cure, he knew it would be him.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] because of reasons
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] the one about the things with the stuff
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] there was a flyer for it in the gas station bathroom on I-5
[Any questions?] are you having a nice weekend? :3
